Is the case 42mm or 49mm?

The case diameter is 42mm. The distance covering the case and the arms that hold the strap is 49mm.

How do you tell what time it is?

There are 2 user selectable time display modes.

Turning Mode: Press the upper button. The LED blades spin around the face highlighting three blades in turn which first indicate the hour (e.g. 6 = 6 o'clock position), second, groups of 10 minutes (e.g. 2 = 2 o'clock position) and single minutes (e.g. 9 = 9 o'clock position). This indicates the time is 6:29. It's very easy to follow if you imagine the blades as numbers on a clock.

Flashing Mode: Press the upper button. The LED blades show hours and minutes at a glance. The lit blade indicates the hour (e.g. 6 = 6 o'clock position), the flashing blade indicates five minute groups (e.g. 15 mins = same as 15 minute position on a clock) and four dots at the top of the display indicate exact minutes 1-4 (e.g. 1 dot = 1 minute). This indicates the time is 6:16.

Does this watch need to be charged?

Yes, the Blade Carbon Fiber LED watch is USB rechargeable.
