Product Description
Proof sets are one of the most popular ways to collect coins. Since the early 1800’s, the U.S. Mint has issued special proof coins minted exclusively for collectors. These coins are the finest quality ever produced. The blanks are specially treated, hand-polished, and cleaned before being struck with specially polished dies at least twice to ensure great detail. The resulting coins are of exceptional quality and have deeply mirrored finishes with intricate designs. However from 1965-1967 no traditional proof sets were issued by the United States Mint. Instead, a limited-edition issue of “special mint sets” were produced, which featured a unique satin finish on the coins. Presented here are the three Kennedy half dollars from these sets in matching certification and grade. Each coin is graded in near perfect MS67 quality and certified by NGC.
