Product Description

Nazca Lines Culture, ancient Peru, c. 200 – 600 AD. A nice Nazca decorated Polychrome ceramic bowl. An elegant example of the artistic refinement and cultural symbolism of the Nazca civilization. The vessel’s flaring shape is adorned with a decorative register of floral motifs encircling the rim, rendered in a deep red slip. Below, horizontal red bands accentuate the vessel’s form, contrasting beautifully with the light cream-colored background of the base. The inside of the bowl has a lovely reddish-brown tone, with a dark brown rim around the top. The minimalistic yet deliberate design reflects the Nazca’s appreciation for balance and harmony in their artwork. Such vessels were likely used in ceremonial or domestic contexts, showcasing the artistic sophistication of the Nazca artisans and their ability to integrate decorative elements with functional forms. Dimensions: 6.25”L x 6.25”W x 3.75”H. Provenance: Ex Hollywood, Florida private collection, acquired in the 70's. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance. --Weight:9.4 oz
